Director: Ms. Kristin Masterton

Ms Kristin Masterton began training with National Karate in 1982 and was promoted to first degree black belt in 1986. Currently a National Karate third degree black belt, Ms Masterton is also a certified yoga, meditation, and qigong instructor with a BA in communications from the University of Minnesota

Ms. Masterton says, "Karate completely changed my life! As a teen and young adult I was awkward and felt afraid of my own shadow. Karate helped me to feel comfortable in my body and gave me the confidence to face physical, mental and emotional challenges. It was the beginning of a journey that has continued to bring me greater and greater happiness."

Ms. Masterton is a wife, mother and new grandmother. She is passionate about sharing her love of karate and life with others and enjoys seeing the positive impact martial arts training has upon children, adults and families.

Head Instructor: Mr. Scott Masterton

Mr. Scott Masterton began his karate training in 1978 and was promoted to first degree black belt in 1982. Currently a National Karate seventh degree black belt, Mr Masterton’s martial arts career also includes winning the US Super-middle Weight kickboxing title in 1992 as well as being an undefeated world ranked contender in that same division.

With more than 25 years of teaching experience, Mr. Masterton has had the honor and privilege of teaching and working with some of the top National Karate instructors and competitors, including Mr. Kelly Worley, Mr. Cris Nelson, Mr. William Hill, Mr. Greg Sutherland, Mr. Jesse Zaragoza and many others.

Mr. Masterton says: fitness and self-defense are the outside benefits of karate training. The real gifts are the ones that we carry with us whether we’re wearing a karate uniform or not: Discipline, honor, respect and humility walk with us every day.
