Training

TrainingNational Karate training has a many benefits, both physical and psychological. Our programs have specific tangible and intangible benefits for all ages: children, youth, and adult.

In younger children, we develop basic motor skills that aid performance in other sports and activities. We use wide array of techniques to hold a child's interest. Our instruction emphasizes listening skills for better concentration. That can translate into better performance and even better grades in school. Children with learning difficulties such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learn additional coping skills and use the self-discipline we cultivate in them to overcome personal obstacles.

As they move up in rank, students learn about and earn greater responsibility. The leadership skills they cultivate make them much less likely to succumb to negative peer pressure. Each level of progress builds self-esteem and enhances the ability to respect others.

In a worst-case scenario, a child with proper training will know how to handle a physically dangerous situation and could fend off an adult-sized assailant if necessary.

Adults focus on the physical aspects of training. Although timelines for specific amount of progress are more difficult to gauge, we can determine what improvements to expect.

In general, martial arts have three aspects: applied, sport, and aesthetic. Most martial arts schools emphasize only one element, some teach two. National Karate takes all three facets of the martial arts and combines them into a cohesive, rigorous training program.

Applied training teaches you how to use your skills – in other words, self-defense. Our instructive techniques are efficient, purposeful, and effective.

The sport aspect of martial arts is for competition, recreational use, and is the primary method of fitness conditioning. National Karate has produced several world champion kickboxers using our training regimen. Expect a fun, challenging workout that our instructors can adapt to meet your fitness needs.

The aesthetic aspect of our training concerns the study of martial arts techniques, both modern and ancient. This part of your training emphasizes focus, precision, and control, leading to profound personal growth. The movements you will practice are not just for demonstration; they are a living history of our organization.

All of your training, regardless of which classes you take, will lead to:

* Improved flexibility through NK's yoga-based stretching
* Increased stamina and weight control
* Ability to recognize and avoid potential danger

Finally, what may be the best reason to join: it's fun, so you're motivated to keep coming!
