Parent Information for New Students

* Try to make sure your child is on time for class and attends regularly. Practice makes perfect. Regular and prompt attendance is your child' best opportunity to succeed.

* Encourage your child. The most important factors relating to your child's progress are their enthusiasm for karate and their enjoyment of the classes. Your encouragement coupled with their instructor's leadership will give your child the positive feedback that he/she needs to maintain interest and start to develop skills. Negative criticism or excessive pressure to perform may reduce your child's interest in karate.

* Parents can help their child to learn their "karate words" and remind them about proper karate protocol i.e., bowing before entering the class and addressing their instructors as Mr. ... or Ms. etc.

* Refrain from making corrections or "coaching" your child from the observation area. Although it is normal for parents to wish to assist their child, any comments can prove distracting to other children and disruptive to the instructor.

Our goal at National Karate is to make your child's karate experience a valuable, positive, and enjoyable addition to their educational growth. Please communicate to staff members any physical, mental, or psychological factors that might have an impact on your child's progress.
