About Kelly Worley

Mr. Worley began his karate career in 1977 and received his first degree black belt in 1991. Shortly thereafter, he earned the title of #1 overall forms and sparring competitor in the NCKA for two consecutive years. Over the course of his teaching life, one of his many joys is seeing his students from the past bring their children to receive the same training they received from him as children.

Chaska Students - looking for something FREE and FUN? Check out this virtual tournament next weekend. It’s open to everyone and totally free. All you need is zoom. I watched one a few weeks ago and it was really cool and ran super well.
Give it a shot! What do you have to lose?🤩 We are super excited about the upcoming Corona Cup Free, Live, Virtual Martial Arts competition coming up May 30-31! We already held two free virtual events - the Quarantine Qualifier and the Sanitizer Showdown and the feed back for the events has been super positive!

⌨️ We hope you will register for and participate in the Corona Cup - it is free and open to every style, age, gender, ability level and interest. We teamed up with the geniuses at MATAction to make sure the registration and competition experience is smooth and easy! Register at:

Here are some of the reasons why we are hosting these free events
✅ 1. We are in the middle of a pandemic and many martial arts schools have had to shut down and teach classes remotely. Even those starting to reopen are limited in capacity and many people still aren't ready to get back into group classes. These tournaments are a way to stay work out and keep training until we can get back into our martial arts schools.
✅ 2. We've heard positive feedback from instructors who are using these free events as a way to inspire and motivate students to stick to online classes and even sign up for private lessons to prepare for the virtual events. Some instructors are using the events as part of their training and testing curriculum.
✅ 3. In-person sport karate tournaments are a whole lot of fun but it is hard to get people to try them. One of the really cool outcomes of these free events is seeing a lot of new participants that we have never seen before and who have never competed before.
✅ 4. These events are a great way to improve yourself. You may be competing against other people but we encourage you to use the events to compete against yourself - each one is a challenge for you to perfect your techniques and increase your self-confidence.
✅ 5. The events are a way to be more inclusive - we've added para divisions so that those in our martial arts community who want to also compete have a comfortable and welcoming place to show off their skills.
✅ 6. And overall, the events are a whole lot of FUN - for the competitors, judges and for us at SportMartialArts and MATAction. We get to see your martial arts talent, watch people get better from event to event, meet new people, laugh with you as pets and younger siblings jump into the fray and really connect our martial arts community. We love this sport and this is how we can give back.

😷 We hope to see you this weekend at the Corona Cup!
