Start Karate in Savage With a Two-Week Trial and Age-Based Classes
At Savage National Karate, we encourage students curious about our Savage martial arts programs to join us for a two-week trial. This no risk and commitment free opportunity gives students the chance to try 6 classes with other beginner students of their age.

Savage National Karate is proud to be a local family-owned business serving the community of Savage, Minnesota and the surrounding area. The school serves students ages 4 – adult at an easily accessible location in O’Connell Square directly off Hwy 42. Plenty of close parking makes this location an easy drop off point for parents, and a large viewing area is a welcoming space for family members who want to watch their student practice. Savage National Karate offers classes Monday through Friday, leaving student schedules open on weekends for travel and other activities. We encourage students to attend at least two 30-minute classes per week but offer three or four class options per week for every belt and age group. At Savage National Karate, we understand the commitments of busy families and work with our students to help karate fit in the balance of scheduling needs. Small student to instructor ratios guarantee every student gets personal attention for each of their classes every week. Private lessons in curriculum practice, tournament preparation and sparring taught by lead instructors are also offered on a flexible schedule.
At Savage National Karate, we value being a diverse reflection of the community and seek to engage with our neighbors in local events such as the Savage Community Halloween Bash and Harriett Bishop Elementary’s Annual PTO Silent Auction. Instructors from Savage National Karate also teach outreach classes at Woodpark Montessori Preschool. We love celebrating the successes of our students both in the studio through monthly exams and programs like NK Summer Goals as well as out of the studio at events such as the Diamond Nationals tournament and the Sport Karate Challenge.

Meet our Leadership Team & Instructors
Savage National Karate is owned and directed by 3rd Degree Black Belt Ms. Heidi Busch. Ms. Busch has been training with National Karate since 2011 and teaching since 2015. Although her interest in martial arts began as a teenager, she did not begin practicing until she was an adult with children in the program. Learning, training, competing and earning black belts side by side with family was an incredibly valuable part of their family dynamics that strengthened relationships and created lasting memories.
Since starting as owners in 2021 at Savage National Karate, all three Busch children have instructed at the school, and Heidi and her husband Paul feel privileged to be able to support new generations of martial artists and their families in the NK tradition. Ms. Busch especially loves supporting new adult learners as they challenge themselves to learn something new and develop skills beyond their perceived capacity. She believes that self-care through pursuit of personal goals build confidence and well-being that translates out of the karate studio and into professional and family life.
